So you want a life by design!
What you’ve learned since you’ve been born, runs your life.
In brief: We are all memetic machines. If you struggle in any area of your life, is it possible that your memetics were done by default instead of by design? Your caretakers got their belief systems from their parents. If they never questioned those beliefs, they naturally pass them on to you. Here’s what you can do about this.
Which do you prefer: I life by default or a life by design?
That’s easy to answer, Linda!
Not so fast. Are you really living a life by design? Let’s define how these two kinds of life differ and which one you are living right now.
We are all memetic machines because the beliefs, the views, the paradigms about life, relationships, your body, your sense of self, your spirituality, your finances, your health, your wealth and your happiness are all information (or if I may point out, mental programs) learned from zero to about seven years old and copied from person to person by imitation, language and by how things are done.
When your thoughts are controlled by past experiences filled with bad images, sounds or feelings, your subconscious mind reacts to these thoughts immediately sending chemicals and impulses to your organs to help you feel the emotions attached to the thought you’re thinking. And the worst is that you tend to attract what you hold in your mind, good or bad. Just like a nine years old boy I met last week at a local school. We did a written exercise called “What I’ve have learned since I’ve been born”. The intention was to answer this question with all the good stuff life is made of. When he showed me his copy, he pointed out that he had learned to be ugly. I looked straight at him and said: that’s not true. Some things we need to unlearn. You are so gifted, bright and funny… He looked down not believing what I was saying maybe blasting his imagination with all the ways he was producing the opposite of what I was suggesting. And because we are wired to survived, he stayed with the negative thoughts not knowing that the positive ones demand more effort to be felt. This learned belief had become the truth and reality for him. He just believed what others thought of himself. What others thought of him was just a reflection of themselves. It had nothing to do with him but it made him a victim of senseless perceptions.
Are you, just like this boy, replaying what happened once or twice and doing it to yourself now. Seeing big bright images in your mind of the bad stuff while the good stuff is in a little corner in dime colors? That is what many of my clients see and feel before they come to seek my guidance.
Negative mental programs (the beliefs systems and perceptions of your peers for example) are built like that. It may happen to you once, and without you wanting it, you replay the bad experience again and again and again and then you are doing it to yourself without any help from the exterior thus creating a default program. Making you react automatically in a certain way instead of proactively decide who you are in the moment.

As children, we are sponges to anything that happens to us, good or bad. These experiences become memories and proofs. These truths may or may not serve you today but still, you keep them because nobody ever thought you to modify them, until today. When you are tired and frustrated about feeling the same heavy feelings again and again you are in default mode. When you are consciously and consistently choosing your thoughts, catching your bad thoughts and adjusting them for good ones so you react to situations and events in a way that serves you and makes you happier, healthier, wealthier, you are in control of your brain, your thoughts. (Because contrary to what you make believe, you control your brain not the other way around.) You achieve personal freedom. Personal freedom means having the freedom to be able to control your thoughts and to manifest the kinds of feelings you want in your life.
Just like Dr. Richard Bandler, the co-creator of the neuro linguistic programming modality wrote: “… I had to get her to do something more important, develop a habit of feeling happy. If you’ve been afraid most of your life, you may not have good examples of what “happy” is. In that case, you can build it in.” Invent a happy memory or your bright future if that is the case for you.
So, I invite you to experiment a happy behavior. Now. Yes, that’s right, now. Go back in time and think of a time when you felt really good. Actually, think of the best moment of your life. Got it?
Now, step inside that time and see through your eyes, hear through your ears, and feel the really good feeling all the way through your body. Make the images bigger, brighter, more colorful, and you’ll probably find yourself feeling even better. Make the sounds louder and crisper, and if there is no sound, add sounds. Breathe in a relax way just like you did back then. Start to intensify the good feelings.
When you feel it really strongly, take a deep breath in, grab one of your wrists, squeeze it tight and blow it out and say PEACE. There, you just felt good for no reason. The mind and the body work in a holistic way because they are one.
